Meet Our Team
Dr. Maria Ostrovskaya
Dr. Maria Ostrovskaya became the owner of Quinte Animal Hospital September 1, 2018. She received her veterinary degree in 1999 from Saratov State Agrarian University and spent first couple of years working with large animals and enjoying outdoor life. She has spent the last several years working in hospitals within our community. Dr. Ostrovskaya is excited to bring Fear Free techniques and Low Stress Handling to our hospital.
Maria has two children, a boy and a girl, a super charged cat Marta, a green-eyed Bengal named Charlie, her partner-in-crime poodle Matilda, a bouncing chincilla and an aquarium full of colourful fish.
As a child, I always wanted to become a doctor but not just the regular one – the one for pets. For those who cannot raise their voices, for those whose pain is often overlooked and goes unnoticed, for those who give us unconditional love and are always there for us. This is why I decided to become a veterinarian. This profession gives me an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of people and their furry companions, it constantly keeps me on my toes as there are never two days alike. We never cease to learn new things. The passion to help animals drives our desire to be better at what we do and provide the best possible care and experience for our pets and their caring owners.
Dr. Stephanie Runciman
Dr. Runciman graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2012. She was previously practicing veterinary medicine in another small animal clinic, before moving to the area and joining our team! Stephanie has experience in many areas of animal care after spending time caring for shelter dogs in Thailand as well as visiting many areas of Asia and South America to work in wildlife sanctuaries and provide veterinary care.
Stephanie began working with us as a Veterinary Technician in 2010. She moved into the Hospital Manager position in 2015.
Stephanie’s special managerial interests include team-building and team empowerment, but her technician roots are still close to her heart and she loves providing nursing care and working in the lab.
She shares her house with 2 children, 3 cats, 1 dog, 1 hedgehog and 5 very bossy chickens.
Registered Veterinary Technician
Kayla graduated from the Veterinary Technology program at St. Lawrence College in June 2017. After the completion of her Veterinary Technician National Exam in August of 2017 she achieved her status as a Registered Veterinary Technologist.
Kayla’s favorite part of working in a veterinary hospital is working in the surgical suite, delivering anesthesia and keeping pets safe throughout their surgeries. Kayla has 1 dog at home and is looking for another!
Registered Veterinary Technician
Brittany joined our team in June of 2016 as a newly graduated veterinary technician. We are proud to announce that she successfully completed her Veterinary Technician National Exam in December 2016 and is now a Registered Veterinary Technician. She loves all animals and has a special affinity for cats.
Tianna lived in Trenton for 13 years, then moved to Gananoque for 2 years while in school at St. Lawrence College. She has moved back to Trenton, as this is what she calls “home”. Tianna graduated from St. Lawrence College as a Veterinary Assistant. At this time she doesn’t have any pets living with her but her parents have Jessie, a beautiful black lab that will be 8 this year and full of energy. Outside of work, Tianna loves to paint, read and skate. Summer time she loves to camp, be on a beach or exploring the water of the thousand islands.
Sarah joined our team as a receptionist in May of 2016. Since joining our team, she has shown her love of animals by fostering pets for our Orphan Program and has 2 cats and a dog of her own at home.
Jane joined our team in July of 2017 after a recent move to the area. Her passion for animals led her to a career change, and she returned to school and graduated from the Animal Care program at Durham College in 2015. Since then she has worked in Internal Medicine, Radiology and Emergency, at the TVEH in Toronto. You will now find her in our Reception, ready to greet and assist you, and also helps in the treatment area when needed.
When not working, Jane is busy running Just Paws Animal Rescue, where she helps dogs in shelters find their forever homes. She loves to spend time with her daughter, Savannah and their 3 doggies, Samson, Pepsi and Hank.
Bryanna has stuck with us after completing her high school co-op here in 2013, she has spent her summers and holidays with us as a veterinary assistant. Bryanna has successfully graduated with a degree in human behavioral science and we could not be prouder. She currently splits her time between working with us and working with children in need of her help through local organizations.
Bryanna has a lovable dog named Olive and 2 spoiled, trouble-making Guinea Pigs.
